How to use REA

Install REA into your coding agent, run a first investigation on one small feature, and turn the findings into something you can test.

Updated Oct 19, 2026

1. Install it into your agent

Run the setup command in a terminal, or ask your coding agent to run it for you. Setup shows a plan for approval before it changes anything.

Terminal
npx rea-agents@latest setup

Approve the plan, then restart your agent so it picks up the new tools. The official guide covers Windows, macOS, Linux and a curl option.

2. Ask about one feature

Narrow questions get the best answers. Name the program, the feature and what you want back, for example the rule behind a button or why something speeds up over time.

3. Let the agent inspect, then check its work

  • Ask it to show the code or observations behind each claim.
  • Have it rebuild the rule in a tiny standalone example you can run.
  • Change one input and confirm the rebuild behaves like the original.

4. Share what you found

Write it up, post it or push the repo, then submit the link here so others can learn from it.
